Screen America builds screen porches, patio enclosures and sunrooms across North Georgia, and repairs them. That is the entire business — not a sideline for a deck builder or a remodeler. It has been for 29 years.
Why only screens
Josh Howland worked in screen manufacturing before he started this company, which is an unusual way into the trade and the reason it works the way it does. He was supplying the people doing the installing, and watching what happened next.

He is a graduate of the Kennesaw State University Coles College of Business, and Screen America has been running from Cherokee County since 1997.
What we build with
Fiberglass mesh, which holds its shape and stays see-through, in a range of shades. Aluminum frames in white, beige, silver, almond, sandstone, black and bronze, so the frame matches the house rather than announcing itself. On enclosures the frame is extruded aluminum — a solid structural profile rather than folded sheet, which matters the first time a ladder leans on it.
What happens if something is wrong
We walk the finished job with you before we leave, and anything that is not right gets fixed on the spot. If something moves later — a post settles, a door starts to sag — call and we come back. We stand behind the labor.
Screen itself is different, and it is worth being straight about: it carries no manufacturer warranty. Once installed, screen is essentially a filter, and the only thing that damages it is something hitting it from outside. When that happens we repair it, and repairs are a large part of what we do.
How long it takes
Most projects run two to three weeks from the first visit to finished. Only a small part of that is spent at your house — a panel porch is assembled at the shop over about six or seven days and then installed in anywhere from a couple of hours to a full day.
