Frequently Asked Questions

1. What services does Screen America offer?

Screen America specializes in screen porch installation, repair, and maintenance services in North Georgia. We provide custom-built screened-in porches, screen door repairs, and replacement screens.

2. Which areas in North Georgia do you serve?

We are based in Ball Ground and work across North Georgia, including Canton, Woodstock, Acworth, Marietta, Alpharetta, Roswell, Cumming, Gainesville and metro Atlanta. We will regularly drive an hour and a half to two hours for a project, and for larger jobs we travel further than that. If you are outside the area, call and ask.

3. How long does it take to install a screened porch?

Most projects run 2-3 weeks from start to finish, which covers about 99% of the work we do. Size and complexity move that number, and we will tell you where yours lands when we come out to look at it.

4. How long will you actually be working at my house?

Less time than the overall project length suggests. A panel porch is assembled at the shop from your measurements over about six or seven days, and then installed in anywhere from a couple of hours to a full day. An extruded aluminum enclosure is different - we fabricate that ourselves, on site, and it takes a day or two. The 2-3 weeks covers the whole process from measure to finish, not the time we spend in your yard.

5. Can Screen America repair my existing porch screens?

Yes, we offer comprehensive repair services for damaged screens, including replacement of torn or worn-out screens, frame repairs, and screen door adjustments.

6. What materials do you use for screen porches?

Fiberglass mesh, which holds its shape and stays see-through, in a range of shades. Aluminum frames in white, beige, silver, almond, sandstone, black and bronze, so the frame matches the house rather than announcing itself. On enclosures the frame is extruded aluminum - a solid structural profile rather than folded sheet, which matters the first time a ladder leans on it.

7. Are your screen porches resistant to insects?

Absolutely. Our screened porches are designed with fine mesh screens that keep out insects while allowing airflow, ensuring comfort during warmer months.

8. Can you customize the design of my screen porch?

Yes! Screen America offers custom design options to match your home's aesthetic. We'll work with you to create a porch that fits your style, preferences, and budget.

9. Do you offer free estimates?

Yes, we provide free, no-obligation estimates for all screen porch installations and repairs. Contact us to schedule an appointment today.

10. How do I maintain my screened porch?

Regular cleaning of the screens and frames with mild soap and water helps keep your porch in top condition. We also recommend periodic inspections for any necessary repairs.

11. How do I get started with Screen America?

Getting started is easy! Simply give us a call or fill out our contact form online to schedule a consultation. We'll walk you through the process from design to installation or repair.

12. What are the benefits of adding a screened porch to my home?

Adding a screened porch provides extra living space, protection from insects, and a comfortable outdoor area for relaxation and entertainment. It also enhances your home's value and curb appeal.

13. How do I choose the right screen material for my porch?

Standard fiberglass is the default and it disappears from inside. A charcoal shade reads darker from the outside and buys you privacy without losing the view out, which matters more on a close lot than an open one. A tighter solar mesh cuts heat and glare noticeably on a west-facing porch - the difference between a room you sit in during August and one you do not. We will talk it through at the assessment; it is the cheapest decision to get right at the start.

14. Can I install a ceiling fan or lighting in my screened porch?

Yes, we can integrate ceiling fans, lighting, and electrical outlets into your screened porch. That extends how much of the year the porch is comfortable, particularly through the hot months - though a screen porch is a spring-to-autumn room rather than a year-round one.

15. Do you offer any warranty for your screen porch installations?

We stand behind our labor. Before we leave, we walk the finished job with you, and anything that is not right gets fixed on the spot. If something we built moves later - a post settles, a door starts to sag - call us and we will come back and put it right. Screen material is different: it does not carry a manufacturer warranty, because once it is installed screen is essentially a filter and the only thing that damages it is something hitting it from outside. When that happens we repair it, and repairs are a large part of what we do.

16. Will my screened porch be weather-resistant?

Our screened porches are designed to be durable and weather-resistant, providing protection from wind, rain, and UV rays while allowing fresh air to circulate.

17. How much does it cost to install a screened porch?

The cost of a screened porch installation varies based on size, design, and materials. We provide detailed estimates during the consultation to ensure the project fits your budget.

18. Do you offer seasonal maintenance services for screened porches?

Yes, we offer seasonal maintenance to keep your screened porch in excellent condition. Our services include cleaning, inspecting, and repairing any issues before they become major problems.

19. How can I prepare my home for a screen porch installation?

Move the furniture, the grill and anything else off the deck or patio, and leave us a clear route to it. That is genuinely all we need from you - we handle the rest, including any adjustments to the existing structure.

20. Can Screen America enclose an existing porch or patio?

Yes, we specialize in converting existing porches, decks, and patios into beautiful screened-in areas, allowing you to enjoy the outdoors without the nuisance of bugs or debris.

21. Are your screen porch designs energy-efficient?

Yes, our screened porches can improve energy efficiency by providing shade and reducing heat absorption. This helps lower cooling costs during hot North Georgia summers.
