Screen porch built by Screen America in North Georgia

A Screen Porch Is Not a Deck With Mesh On It

Most of the people who will quote you for a screened porch build decks, or additions, or kitchens. Screen is the last afternoon of the job and the part they subcontract or improvise. It is the only thing we do, and have done since 1997.

That shows up in the parts you cannot see once it is finished: frames sized to your openings rather than trimmed to fit, mesh chosen for the elevation it is going on, and posts that carry the enclosure instead of having it bolted to them afterwards.

Most of the Work Happens Before We Arrive

A porch runs two to three weeks from the first visit to finished. Very little of that is spent at your house.

  • We measure. Free, on site, no obligation. We tell you what we think, including if the answer is that you do not need us.
  • Your panels are made to measure. A panel porch is assembled at the shop from your measurements, about six or seven days. None of that happens in your garden.
  • We install. A couple of hours to a full day for a panel porch. An extruded aluminum enclosure is fabricated on site and takes a day or two.
  • We walk it with you before we leave, and anything that is not right gets fixed on the spot.

Screening What You Already Have

Most jobs are not a new structure. An existing deck, patio or covered porch gets closed in, which avoids foundation work and a new roof and keeps both the cost and the timeline down. If the structure will not carry an enclosure we will say so at the measure rather than after.

What It Is Built From

Fiberglass mesh, which holds its shape and stays see-through, in a range of shades. Aluminum frames in white, beige, silver, almond, sandstone, black and bronze, so the frame matches the house instead of announcing itself. On enclosures the frame is extruded aluminum — a solid structural profile rather than folded sheet, which is the difference the first time a ladder leans against it.

Where you want more than bugs kept out, sliding vinyl glazing closes against wind and rain and buys you March and October as well.

If Something Moves Later

Call us. A post settles, a door starts to sag, we come back — we stand behind the labor. Screen itself carries no manufacturer warranty, because once installed it is essentially a filter and the only thing that damages it is something hitting it from outside. When that happens we repair it, and repair is a large part of what we do.
